One day, you will miss the things your mum does that annoy you now.

The call asking whether you have eaten. The same story told again. Her asking where you are going. Her voice calling your name from another room. Right now, those things can feel ordinary, sometimes even irritating. You answer quickly. You say, later. You think there will always be another chance to sit with her properly, to listen with patience, to soften your tone, to stay a few minutes longer.

But one day, the house may become quiet in a way you never wanted.

You may play an old voice note just to hear her say something completely normal. You may stare at a message and wish you had replied with more warmth. You may remember the little things that once felt small and realise they were part of what made life feel safe.

That is the pain of dunya. So much of what we later long for first arrives disguised as routine. The mercy you are tempted to brush past today may become the memory that breaks you tomorrow. Even her ordinary concern is a sign that Allah placed someone in your life who cares whether you are fed, safe, and home.

Be softer now. Answer the call. Sit a little longer. Do not wait for memory to teach you the value of a moment. Honour your mother while Allah has still left her as a mercy in your life. And if your relationship is strained, begin with gentleness. Small kindnesses still count.

May Allah protect our mothers, forgive them, fill their lives with barakah, and grant them the highest place in Jannah. Ameen.
