The Subject I Love Most Might Be Where My Ego Feels Safest.

Every student has subjects they love. There is nothing wrong with enjoying the area that comes naturally, the teacher whose language makes sense, or the questions you can finally answer with confidence.

But comfort can quietly become a hiding place.

You return to the subject where you feel capable while avoiding the area that would expose your gaps. You keep polishing what already makes you feel knowledgeable and postpone the learning that might correct your worship, your character or the way you understand an obligation.

Seeking knowledge for Allah asks for honesty about why you are studying. Enjoyment is not the enemy. Ego is simply good at turning even beneficial things into a mirror.

A balanced student does not need to know everything. You may have a genuine specialism or a clear reason to focus. But your study should not become an excuse to ignore what you personally need in order to worship Allah with care and live your deen responsibly.

Let qualified teachers help you see the gaps you cannot diagnose alone. Let adab make you teachable outside the subjects where you shine. Let salah remind you that standing before Allah is not a performance of expertise.

Sometimes beneficial knowledge is the lesson you are least tempted to post about because it is speaking directly to you.

You do not have to abandon what you love. Just make sure love of a subject has not become love of feeling impressive.

The avoided subject may simply be the knowledge that helps you pray, earn, speak or fulfil responsibilities more carefully. Quietly useful knowledge can still transform you.
