Sadaqah: A Legacy That Continues Giving

As-salamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh.

At Amani’s, giving is not something separate from who we are. It is part of our story, part of our purpose, and part of the legacy we continue in loving memory of our beloved mother, the founder of Amani’s, who returned to Allah on 22 December 2020.

Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un.

She was a woman who gave with sincerity, kindness and faith. She believed in helping others, supporting families, and giving in ways that continue to benefit people long after the moment has passed. Since her return to Allah, we have tried to continue that spirit through sadaqah, sadaqah jariyah and community projects that bring lasting benefit, insha’Allah.

What Has Already Been Done

By the mercy of Allah, and with the support of our customers and family, this work has already helped fund meaningful projects for communities in need.

Alhamdulillah, since our mother returned to Allah:

• A small masjid has been built, serving around 100 worshippers.

• A free madrasah for children has been running for around 5 years.

• Around 20 water wells have been funded, providing access to clean water for communities in need.

• Ongoing support has continued for charitable causes, including work that began even before this current phase.

These projects are not just numbers to us. They are du’as, memories, hopes and acts of worship. Every child who learns Qur’an, every person who makes wudu, every family who drinks clean water, and every worshipper who prays in the masjid is part of a legacy we pray continues to benefit our mother, our family, our customers and everyone who helped make it possible.

May Allah accept it from all of us. Ameen.

The Next Phase: A Larger Masjid in Somalia

The current masjid has been serving the local community, but the need has grown. The land owner has now kindly offered a larger space of approximately 20 metres by 20 metres so that, with the permission of Allah, a much bigger masjid can be built.

The planned space would allow for a two-floor masjid, with the potential to serve around 700 to 1,000 worshippers if funded and built properly.

This would be more than a building. It would be a place of salah, Qur’an, learning, community, guidance and comfort. It would give worshippers more space, allow children to continue learning, and help the local community grow around a house of Allah.

Why This Matters

A masjid is one of the most beautiful forms of sadaqah jariyah. Long after the bricks are laid and the doors are opened, people continue to pray, learn, gather, remember Allah and teach the next generation.

A water well may quench thirst for years.

A madrasah may teach children who later teach others.

A masjid may hold thousands of prayers, du’as, lessons and moments of worship.

This is the kind of giving we pray continues even after we leave this world.

How Amani’s Supports This Work

A portion of what we earn through Amani’s is set aside to support charitable work and long-term sadaqah jariyah projects. When you shop with us, you are not only supporting a family-run modest fashion business. You are also helping us continue a legacy of giving that began with our beloved mother and continues, by the mercy of Allah, through every project we are able to support.

We will always aim to be honest and transparent about this work. The projects are carried out step by step, as Allah allows, and we pray that every contribution, every order and every du’a becomes a means of goodness.
