It hurts when people around you seem to be arriving somewhere while you still feel stuck. Engagements, marriages, jobs, homes, children, healing, progress, and answered prayers appear around you, while you quietly wonder why your own life feels late in places that matter. Comparison can turn another person’s joy into evidence against your own worth.
Feeling left behind can make you ashamed of your timeline. You begin reading your life as failure instead of a test unfolding differently. But Allah is not measuring you against somebody else’s chapter. The path written for another person was never your timetable. What looks slow to you may still contain protection, preparation, mercy and lessons you cannot yet see.
Ya Al-Hakim, All-Wise, protect me from turning comparison into a wound I keep reopening. You know what I hoped would happen by now and the milestones I thought I would have reached. Put barakah in the path You have written for me, even when it looks quieter, slower, or less impressive than the paths around me.
Give me gratitude for what is already present, patience for what is still unfolding, and dignity when I feel small beside other people’s progress. Save me from jealousy, self-pity, and hopelessness. Help me celebrate goodness without treating someone else’s blessing as proof that mine has been forgotten. Keep my chest open with trust and useful effort.
May Allah calm the part of you that feels late, protect you from painful comparison, and bring you to what is written for you with a heart that recognises His wisdom. Ameen.
