When Your Father Returned to Allah

Losing your father can make the world feel less protected in a way that is difficult to explain. You miss more than his voice. You miss knowing he was there, the questions you could ask, the ordinary conversations, the advice you sometimes ignored, and the quiet security of his presence. Then life keeps moving, and new moments arrive that you wish you could have told him about first. Grief can make you feel older overnight, as though part of your shelter has been removed.

Allah knows what that absence has done to you. He knows the memories that suddenly tighten your chest, the regrets over things left unsaid, and the days when you look strong while quietly missing him. Sabr does not require you to stop loving him. You can grieve, cry and still trust Allah. You can remember the years you were given and say Alhamdulillah without pretending the goodbye was easy. Let the memories that hurt slowly become reasons to make dua rather than reasons to punish yourself.

Keep doing what love can still do after death: make dua, give charity on his behalf when you can, and remember the good he taught you. Ask: Ya Rahman, have mercy on my father. Ya Ghafur, forgive his shortcomings. Ya Nur, fill his grave with light. Ya Karim, accept his good deeds, raise his rank among the righteous and grant him Jannatul Firdaus. Give our family sabr, heal what grief has made tender, and reunite us in goodness. Ameen.
