When your grandmother returned to Allah

Some people become part of the feeling of home, and a grandmother can be one of them. You miss the little things you once thought would always be there: her voice, the way she said your name, familiar food, repeated stories, small habits, and the warmth of knowing she was somewhere in the world.

Grief can arrive through ordinary moments. A smell, a family gathering, a recipe, a room, or a sentence can suddenly bring her back to mind. Allah knows every memory you carry and every regret that follows the thought, ‘I wish I had stayed longer.’ He knows what you meant to say, what you wish you had asked, and how deeply her absence has changed the shape of your family.

Do not let regret become the only way you remember her. There is still good you can do. Make dua for her. Give charity on her behalf when you are able. Speak well of her. Keep alive the kindness, faith, generosity, or wisdom she taught you. Let the love she gave continue through the way you live.

Ask Allah, Ar-Rahman, to forgive her, shower her with mercy, overlook her shortcomings, accept her good, illuminate and widen her grave, raise her rank, and grant her Jannatul Firdaus. Ask Him to place sabr in your heart when you miss her and to reunite you in Jannah by His mercy. Ameen.

Your love can still move towards her through goodness. Carry her kindness into your life.
