THEIR SALARY IS INFORMATION. IT IS NOT A VERDICT ON YOUR LIFE.

You were content until someone mentioned a number. A colleague changed jobs. A friend shared what they earn. Suddenly the same salary that covered the same life this morning feels smaller, because comparison placed it beside somebody else's provision.

Do not shame yourself for noticing. The discomfort may contain useful information. Perhaps your responsibilities have grown while your pay has not. Perhaps the market has moved. Research properly, document your contribution and prepare a calm conversation if there is a genuine case for better pay.

Seeking fair pay is not ingratitude. Rizq is from Allah, and responsible effort is one of the means you can take. Tawakkul does not require you to stay passive at work. You can apply, negotiate, learn, move or wait wisely without making ambition your measure of dignity.

But another person's income can also touch a deeper wound: the fear that you are behind. More money can solve problems, but salary is still one part of a life. Health, time, family, flexibility, stability, development, commute and the effect work has on your deen matter too.

Ask what the comparison is revealing. A pay problem? A need for security? A status wound? A useful career signal? Name the real issue before copying somebody else's path. Shukr does not forbid growth. You can appreciate what is in your hands while taking sensible steps towards more.

Then let their number return to being theirs. Allah's provision for someone does not reduce your own. Research what needs research, negotiate what needs negotiation, and stop carrying somebody else's payslip home as evidence that your life is small.
