Taraweeh on the Nights Your Body Is Exhausted

Some Ramadan nights feel beautiful. Others arrive after work, fasting, cooking, cleaning, children, caring responsibilities, travel, and a body that is asking for sleep before the prayer has even begun. You may stand for taraweeh and wonder why everyone else seems moved while you are simply trying to stay awake.

Tiredness is not automatically proof that your faith is weak. Before judging your heart, look honestly at the whole evening. A heavy iftar, unnecessary scrolling, late socialising, unrealistic household expectations, or carrying everyone else's work may be draining you before worship begins.

Simplify what you can. Share the load. Protect sleep where possible. Let preparation support worship instead of turning the hours before prayer into another test of endurance.

Do not measure sincerity by somebody else's capacity. They do not know your health, medication, shift pattern, commute, baby's sleep, or responsibilities. You do not know theirs either. If you need guidance about what applies to your circumstances, ask a qualified scholar rather than letting comparison answer for you.

There may be a night when you leave earlier than you hoped. There may be another when concentration feels poor. Do not turn one tired night into a story that Ramadan is passing you by.

Presence matters. Character matters. The way you treat your family after worship matters. Allah knows the effort hidden inside a night that did not look impressive from the outside. A sincere night can be quiet, imperfect, tired, and still carry real devotion when you keep turning toward Allah with honesty.
