You are allowed to return after a long absence

Perhaps salah became irregular, the Qur'an stayed closed, dhikr faded, and habits you once guarded disappeared. The longer the distance lasted, the more embarrassing returning began to feel. You remember enough to know what you neglected, and shame keeps telling you that coming back now would look false because you should have come back sooner.

Do not let yesterday's delay become today's reason to delay again.

Tawbah does not require you to rebuild your whole spiritual life in one dramatic night. Turn to Allah honestly. Protect the next prayer. Open the Qur'an for an amount you can read with attention. Ask forgiveness in sincere words. Remove one habit that keeps pulling you away. Put one small act of worship back where neglect became normal.

There may be consequences from choices made while you were distant. Some questions may need guidance from a qualified scholar. Some harm may need an apology, repayment, or another form of repair. Facing responsibility is part of taking your return seriously; it is not a reason to postpone the return itself.

Do not compare this beginning with your strongest season of iman. Your life may be heavier now. Work, grief, parenting, illness, disappointment, or exhaustion may have changed what consistency looks like.

Shame says, become better first, then approach Allah. A sincere return moves the other way: approach Him because you need guidance while you are becoming better.

You do not have to erase every missed day before the next faithful choice can matter. Begin with the next one.
