When someone you love returns to Allah

The world can feel strangely ordinary after someone you love dies. People keep talking, work continues, messages arrive, and yet part of you is still standing beside the moment everything changed. A name, a familiar smell, an empty chair, or a memory you did not expect can suddenly tighten your chest. Grief does not follow a neat timetable, and love does not disappear because other people have stopped asking how you are.

Allah sees the part of this loss that nobody else can measure. He knows the tears that come without warning, the questions you carry, and the moments when you wish you could hear their voice once more. Missing them is not a failure of sabr. You can ache deeply and still turn to Allah with trust. Let the love that remains become something beneficial: make dua for them, give charity when you can, speak well of them, and continue the good they encouraged in you.

Ask Allah, Ar-Rahman, to cover them in mercy, forgive their shortcomings, illuminate and widen their grave, raise their rank, and grant them Jannatul Firdaus. Ask Him to give your own heart a patient, gentle sabr that does not erase love, but helps you carry it faithfully until the akhirah.

Some days remembrance feels comforting and days when it feels sharp. Both can exist. Let yourself remember without believing that healing means forgetting. Your heart can hold gratitude for what was given and sorrow for what has gone.
