Some Tears Never Reach the Face

Not every breaking heart looks broken. Some people still laugh, answer messages and say, “I’m okay,” while carrying a private ache that nobody hears. Their crying is not always loud. Sometimes it is a long silence after everyone has gone home, or staring at the ceiling because sleep will not come.

Sometimes it is sitting on the prayer mat and not knowing how to turn pain into sentences. Sometimes it is swallowing tears in a crowded room because you do not want questions. Sometimes it is continuing with ordinary responsibilities while your chest feels full of something you cannot explain.

Allah does not need you to translate your pain perfectly. He knows what is hidden, what has been lost, what you fear, and what you are still waiting for. A dua can begin with only His name. A sujood can hold the feelings your mouth cannot organise.

Do not judge your faith by whether you ever feel sad. Sabr is not pretending nothing hurts. It is continuing to seek Allah, refusing despair, and choosing what is right while the heart is still tender. Give yourself permission to rest, to ask for help, and to heal without performing strength for everyone. Your emotions do not make you weak, and seeking support does not reduce tawakkul.

If someone tells you they are struggling, listen with mercy. Do not minimise what you cannot see. A gentle presence, a sincere prayer and patient companionship can matter more than clever advice.

Pain can be silent, but it is never hidden from Allah.

Ya Ar-Rahman, comfort every silent heart, heal what is wounded, ease what feels unbearable, and place caring people around those who are struggling. Ameen.
