You can be answering somebody’s message while sitting on the edge of your bed trying not to fall apart.

That is what people sometimes forget about pain. It does not always look dramatic. You may still laugh, work, cook, reply politely and make everybody else comfortable while something inside you feels exhausted. The door closes, the smile drops, and suddenly you realise how much effort it took to appear fine.

There are struggles you have carried so quietly that even people who love you have no idea how heavy your chest has become. You keep saying “I’m okay” because explaining everything feels harder than carrying it for another day. But silence can make you feel invisible, especially when everybody assumes your functioning means you are not hurting.

Allah knows before you find the words. He knows the tears you swallowed, the fear you could not explain, the nights you stared at the ceiling and the moments you had to gather yourself before walking back into the room. You do not need a polished sentence before turning to Him.

Give yourself permission to ask for support from trustworthy people too. Strength is not measured by how convincingly you hide. Sometimes courage looks like admitting that you are tired, asking someone to sit with you, or making space for rest before your body forces you to stop.

You do not have to perform “okay” for everybody. Your hidden pain is still worthy of care, dua and gentleness.

Ya As-Sami’, hear what I cannot explain. Ya Al-Latif, send relief into the places I keep hidden, steady my heart and guide me towards the help that is good for me. Ameen.
