You Planned a Ramadan Your Body Cannot Carry This Year

You pictured a different month. More nights awake in worship. More Qur'an. More energy for family, taraweeh, cooking, charity and quiet duas. Then illness changed the shape of your days before your heart was ready to accept it.

Now even ordinary things may cost more strength than they used to.

It can hurt to watch other people doing what you hoped to do while your own body keeps asking you to stop, sleep, sit down, take medicine or change the plan. You may feel guilty for needing ease, or frightened that a quieter Ramadan means a smaller relationship with Allah.

Your body is not an obstacle you must punish to prove sincerity.

Take your health seriously. Follow sound medical advice and seek reliable religious guidance when illness affects fasting or other acts of worship. Do not invent hardship for yourself, and do not let comparison decide what faithfulness must look like today.

There are still ways to turn towards Allah within the capacity you genuinely have. A page of Qur'an read slowly can be sincere. Dhikr from bed can be sincere. Salah offered with the concessions that properly apply to you can still be worship. A quiet dua can carry the need you do not have energy to explain to anyone else.

Grieve the Ramadan you expected if you need to. Then meet the Ramadan that is actually here.

Allah knows the difference between neglect and limitation. Your task is not to copy somebody else's month. It is to worship truthfully from the life and body you have been given today.

TAKEAWAY

A changed Ramadan does not have to become a distant Ramadan.

Protect your health. Protect your hope. Keep returning.
