Prepare the Part of You That Cannot Be Packed

Before Hajj or Umrah, it is easy to spend more time preparing the suitcase than preparing the heart. Flights, documents, shoes, medication, luggage, transfers, and schedules all matter. Yet the most important part of the journey will never appear on a baggage scale.

Sacred travel asks something from you before you arrive.

Look honestly at what your heart is carrying. The grudge you keep replaying. The apology you have delayed. The debt or responsibility you keep avoiding. The private habit nobody sees. The distraction that has made salah feel rushed. The pride that quietly follows you into good deeds.

AT-TAWWAB, receive my tawbah before the journey and help me travel away from what is harming my heart. Purify my intention from showing off, comparison, and the need to return with a perfect story for other people.

AL-HAADI, guide me to return what I owe, ask forgiveness where I have caused hurt, make peace where peace is possible, and seek qualified advice where a legal, financial, or Islamic matter needs it.

Let longing become intention and intention become action. Teach me the rites properly. AL-HAFEEDH, protect me through the journey and from becoming so obsessed with photographs, schedules, and getting everything exactly as planned that I miss the worship in front of me.

I do not need to arrive perfect. I need to arrive sincere, teachable, and willing to be changed.

May Allah accept your journey, purify your intention, protect you from harm, grant ease in every rite, and bring you home with a heart softer and closer to Him than the one that left. Ameen.
