WHEN EVERYONE LEANS ON YOU

When you are everyone’s safe place

Being the safe place for others is a beautiful trust. People come to you because they feel calmer in your presence, steadier after your words, and lighter after your listening. Yet the one who holds everyone else often goes unnoticed when their own heart starts to feel tired.

Sometimes strength becomes a role that people expect from you at all times. They forget that the calm friend, the dependable sibling, the patient parent, or the wise listener also has days when their own chest feels heavy. Service can become lonely when nobody asks where you go with your own pain.

There is no virtue in waiting until you are spiritually empty before seeking rest. Even generous hearts need replenishment. Even compassionate souls need someone to notice their silence. Emotional exhaustion deserves mercy, not embarrassment.

It is possible to be grateful that people trust you and still feel overwhelmed by how often you must be the steady one. Admitting that need is not selfish. It is honest, and honesty is safer than burnout.

Do not let constant giving make you neglect your soul. Even the one who comforts others must sit before Allah and be comforted. In salah, lay down the burden of always being composed. In dua, say what you have been too busy to admit. In dhikr, allow your heart to be held instead of always holding everyone else.

Allah does not only use you as a means of mercy for others. He is also your refuge. Ar Razzaq provides for the heart as well as the body. He can send rest, support, and tenderness to the one who is used to being strong.
