WHEN YOUR HEART FEELS SWITCHED OFF

Sometimes pain stops feeling sharp and starts feeling like nothing. You answer messages, complete tasks, smile when expected, and move through the day without feeling fully inside it. Even things that once mattered can seem strangely far away.

Do not shame yourself because tears are not coming or because worship feels quieter than it once did. Emotional numbness can follow stress, grief, trauma, exhaustion, or illness. It deserves gentleness, honest attention, and appropriate help when it persists.

Ya AL-LATEEF, reach me gently in the places I cannot explain. If I have shut down because I carried too much for too long, give my heart enough safety to soften without overwhelming me.

Ya AL-JABBAR, restore what strain has fractured inside me. Bring me back to salah without making every prayer a test of whether I can feel enough. Return me to people who are safe, to small acts of care, and to moments that remind me I am still here.

Give me courage to say when I am not coping. If I need a GP, therapist, counsellor, or other qualified support, protect me from treating help as a failure of tawakkul. Let wise care and dua stand beside each other.

I do not need to force my heart open today. I only need to stop abandoning it.

Help me notice small signs of returning: appetite, laughter, concentration, tears, interest, or a moment of khushu. Let recovery be gradual enough to be real, without demanding that I become my old self overnight.

Feeling little right now does not mean Allah is far, or that feeling will never return.
