Someone Else’s Struggle Is Not Proof You Are Closer to Jannah

Comparison can enter religious life quietly.

You notice somebody missing what you rarely miss. Their clothing, habits, knowledge or mistakes become evidence in your mind that you are doing better. Without saying it aloud, you begin to feel safer because another person looks less consistent.

But another Muslim’s struggle is not a certificate for your own ending.

Jannah is not won by standing next to somebody you judge as worse. Their weakness does not erase your hidden faults. Their visible mistake does not tell you what tawbah may happen in private, what sincerity Allah knows, or what your own heart may become if pride is allowed to grow.

Taqwa should make you more watchful over yourself, not more fascinated by ranking people.

If somebody needs sincere advice, give it with knowledge and adab. If wrongdoing affects you, keep the necessary boundary. But do not turn correction into spiritual superiority, and do not confuse a visible snapshot with a final destination only Allah knows.

There is also mercy in remembering how incomplete your view is. You see moments, not whole lives. You see surfaces, not intentions. The safest response is not indifference to right and wrong, but humility about yourself and caution about conclusions Allah never authorised you to make.

REMEMBER THIS

The road to Jannah is not a leaderboard.

Ask what your own choices are doing to your heart. Does obedience make you humbler, kinder and more careful with people? Or has being “right” started making you feel entitled to look down on someone who is still being tested?

Let their struggle remind you to make dua for goodness, protect your tongue and fear pride.

You do not need another person beneath you to hope for Jannah. You need sincerity before Allah.
