WORKING TODAY DOES NOT MEAN EID IS HAPPENING WITHOUT YOU.

Working on Eid can make the celebration feel as though it is taking place somewhere else. Your family is eating while you travel to a shift. Photographs arrive while you deal with patients, customers, deadlines or colleagues while you wanted to be at that table.

It is reasonable to feel disappointed. Gratitude for employment does not require pretending you would not rather be with people you love. A job can be part of your rizq and still ask something painful from you.

protect what is still possible. Ask early about leave, a shift swap, different hours or an adjusted break where possible. Check the actual policy . Plan salah carefully and seek reliable religious guidance if your circumstances create a question.

Tell family what would help. Ask them to keep your favourite food, save one photograph, delay part of the meal or plan something simple for when you return. Give them a practical way to include you.

At work, mark the day in one way. Wear something special if your role allows it. Bring food. Call home on your break. Exchange Eid greetings with Muslim colleagues. Resist spending the shift refreshing the family group chat and feeding the ache of what you are missing.

Hospitals, transport, care and many workplaces do not stop on Eid. Serving people does not erase your own longing to celebrate.

Allah sees the celebration you wish you could join. Your Eid may begin later. It may be smaller, quieter or tired. Different timing does not make prayer, gratitude, generosity, family warmth or a good memory meaningless.
