YOU BECAME THE STRONG ONE BEFORE YOU HAD TIME TO GRIEVE

Sometimes grief gives you a job before it gives you space to feel. You make the calls, answer questions, organise what needs organising, comfort the younger ones, and keep the room steady. Everyone starts calling you strong. Then the urgent part ends, and your own sadness arrives to find that nobody is looking at you anymore.

Functioning is not proof that nothing hurts. The smile can be real and still sit on top of exhaustion. You are allowed to be dependable without turning strength into a promise that you will never need care.

Ya AL-JABBAR, restore the parts of me that had to keep moving before they were ready. Let grief come in a form I can carry. Keep me from becoming so practised at composure that I lose the ability to recognise my own need.

Ya AR-RAHEEM, send me the right people, not simply more people. Give me someone safe enough to hear an unfinished sentence, sit beside silence, or help with one practical thing without making vulnerability feel like debt.

In salah, let me bring the version of the story I edit for everyone else. If I need counselling, bereavement support, medical care, or time away from responsibility, give me courage to take the means available.

Strength does not have to mean disappearing inside everybody else's needs.

Help me notice when the strong role has become an identity I am afraid to leave. I do not have to earn belonging by being useful every minute. Let relationships make room for my need too.

You can be the strong one and still deserve somewhere soft to land.
