Be Kind to Your Parents Even When It’s Hard

Your parents are not perfect. They have their own struggles, worries and limitations. As you grow older, you may see their flaws more clearly and the relationship can sometimes feel complicated.

Differences, disappointment or unresolved hurt can make it difficult to respond with kindness. Yet honouring parents still matters, and kindness can take practical forms that do not require pretending every problem is small.

Speak with respect. Help where you genuinely can. Be patient where patience is appropriate. Make dua for them. If boundaries are needed for safety or serious harm, let those boundaries remain principled rather than cruel.

Do not wait for the perfect relationship before doing the good that is available today. A message, a cup of tea, a lift, a visit, a patient answer or a sincere prayer can carry more weight than you realise.

One day, opportunities to show kindness may be gone. Choose respect, mercy and good deeds while you still can.
