Grief is strange. The world keeps moving while part of you is still standing at the last goodbye.

You can laugh again, answer messages, go to work and sit with people who never saw the moment your world changed. Then a name is mentioned, a familiar place appears, or an old photograph catches you unprepared, and suddenly your heart is back at the goodbye everybody else seems to have moved beyond.

Grief does not always look like tears. Sometimes it is the quiet shock of realising that life continued without asking whether you were ready. It is reaching for your phone, remembering there is nobody to call, or hearing good news and instinctively thinking of the person you wish could hear it.

Do not rush yourself because other people have stopped mentioning them. Love does not become smaller simply because time has passed. Keep making dua. Give sadaqah when you can. Speak about the good they left behind. Let remembrance soften you rather than make you feel guilty for still missing them.

Some days you may feel strong, and another day one detail may undo you. That does not mean you have gone backwards. Grief changes shape as life changes. Be gentle with the part of you learning to live while loving somebody you can no longer reach.

The world moving on does not mean your love has to disappear. Carry them with dua, not with the pressure to stop grieving.

Ya Ar-Rahman, have mercy on the person my heart still searches for. Illuminate their grave, forgive what they left behind, accept the good they sent ahead, and reunite us where no final goodbye remains. Ameen.
